On June 23, 2017, Maulana Tariq Jameel addressed an assembly of students at the Fatima Masjid near-Jalalabad city in Afghanistan. The students were sitting on the floor and listening to him as he delivered a lecture on Hadith No. 27 of Bukhari: "Ayishat al-Nabiyyeen (the stories of the prophets). The interesting aspect of this lecture is that it was delivered outdoors because Maulana Tariq Jameel is prevented from delivering a sermon inside a mosque or madrasa due to his muharrami status. He had delivered a similar sermon on June 15, 2017. The following is the translation of the excerpt from Maulana Tariq Jameel's lecture: "After reading on Bukhari Ayishat al-Nabiyyeen 27, you will see that it deals with the first-generation of five prophets or messengers. They were Adam, Nuh, Nooh, Ibrahim and Ismail. This means that Prophet Musa (Moses) was the sixth prophet after these five individuals. The summary of this hadith is that the first five prophets were messenger-prophets. The last one was a law-maker (making new laws, not only revealing the existing ones). So you know which one is Nooh (Noah). And you know which one was Ibrahim (Abraham) and you also know Ismail (Ishmael) who built Bayt al-Maqdas (the House in Jerusalem, where the prophet Muhammad later established his mosque). However, Nuh was the peak of all prophethood. He was the peak in terms of power and destiny. He did not even have to speak to the people. He just used to take his bow and shoot or else he would send out a bird or an animal. And then he would say what will happen after that. If it did not, then he would say so-and-so will happen after this." It is evident from the preceding quotes that the maulana Tariq Jameel has stated that Nooh (Noah) was a prophet, Ibrahim (Abraham) was also a prophet, and Ismail (Ishmael) was also a prophet; thus making them prophets. In his Qirat-ul-Kareem, Maulana Tariq Jameel has stated that there are seven prophets from the House of Ibrahim (Pedigree of prophet Muhammad) and that Nooh was one of them. In his lecture on Tafseer of Surah al-Mursalat, he stated: "Ibrahim was a prophet and Nuh was a prophet." So it is clear from these lectures and statements by Maulana Tariq Jameel that he considers Nooh a prophet. The Caliphate/Imamate Council issued fatwa declaring Tariq Jameel as a non believer for this statement on 20th April 2018. cfa1e77820
